Why your competitors show up in prompts and you do not

Six structural reasons models reach for the same alternatives, plus what to change on your site this week.

Almost every Snapshot we deliver includes a moment where your team squints at the alternatives list and says, "That company is not even close to us." The model disagrees, and understanding why is often more useful than disputing it.

The six reasons

  • They occupy the named category you are still inventing language for.
  • Their public proof is dated, attributed, and recent.
  • Their comparison pages name your category, even if not your product.
  • Their founders publish under their own name on substantial third-party surfaces.
  • Their pricing page exists and is crawlable.
  • Their docs are public and answer real implementation questions.

What to do about it

Pick two of the six this quarter. Most teams pick the proof artifact and the comparison page. Both produce visible AI movement inside one to two sampling cycles.
